We should use a system like they have in Canada.

Houses with a odd number on mon-wed-fri-sun, evens every other day etc. Beats just banning people using hosepipes.

Hehe wouldnt work here i dont think and its not like Canada is running out of water so to speak, they have 3-4 great big lakes in which they pull their water from...mmmmm tasty canadian tap water:p.

Dunno about this hosepipe ban, not like i water my lawn anyways.

We seem to be back to perpetuating this idea that's it's all the fault of the Water Companies, and that leaking pipes/massive profits are the be-all and end-all of the issue.

Yes, Water Companies are out to make a profit and often put Shareholders first. This sucks, but you are living in a capitalist democracy - why act so outraged and suprised?

The Usage Restrictions and Hosepipe Bans are introduced to protect us from actually running out of water completely, and hopefully make us more aware of the imapct we are having on our environment. Unfortuantely, most people would rather deny any personal responsibility for the problem, and point the finger at leaking pipes.

Have you any idea how difficult it is to spot a leaking pipe? How are you meant to detect these things? Because the local reservoir empties a little bit faster than normal? And fixing a leak isn't merely a matter of wrapping a band-aid around a stand-pipe either. We're talking road closures and planning permission, as well as stopping the customers' entire supply while the repairs take place.

The Water Companies can improve on their wastage, but unless there is a change in attitude from the public this problem will never be solved - even if every leaking pipe were fixed. Too many people taking a limited resource for granted - that is the bigger problem.

Rant, rant, rant etc. Get used to the idea that the country you live in doesn't have an infinite supply of the wet stuff. Oh, and yes, I do work for a water company. :D

Reporting him? are you serious?

No offense to the OP but don't you have anything else better to do?

I wonder if any MPs are adhearing to the ban, or if Buckingham Palace's gardeners are having to use watering cans!

We haven't got a hosepipe ban in Nottingham ( least not as far as I'm aware ) but the old biddy across the road drives me nuts; every night she comes out front with a hose pipe and hoses down the pavement and road directly in front of her hose for at least 20 minutes, such a waste of water!

Why wouldn't he be serious? It wouldn't be quite so funny if you ended up having to use a standpipe in the street later on in the summer, because of people flouting the hosepipe ban would it?

(I see the OP had a word and it has been sorted)

Well i only just realized due to this thread, maybe he didnt know?

Dont report him its abit sad?!

Just let him of the hook and do sly ones yourself.
If the water companies can't fix their own problems (leakage in the pipes) then why should the customers have to suffer?
I know i'm not letting it bother me. I'm carrying on as normal.

Hmm can you not see the irony in your post.

If everyone took your selfish view, customers would really suffer. Yes the water companies are at fault, but by taking your attitude you won't hurt them at all, only yourself and your fellow customers.

Mmm. Guess you never think when you're angry. I'll think about this.

It's also partially the fault of the government who have allowed excessive and uncontrolled population growth in London and the southeast, which has inevitably put a strain on water supplies.

I don't see what the problem is with watering his garden for a reasonable amount of time. (10 minutes max)

Now if the neighbour was leaving the sprinkler on for hours and hours then I would have a word with him.

Sounds like the OP gets a kick out of reporting stuff like this.
This smily realy sums him up

if he is paying his water bill then leave him alone. if he as skanked a pipe into your water mains then its a different story. he is doing nothing wrong, your the one being wrong is you snitch on him. and nobody like a snitch

It's quite sad you ask this on a public forum.

It's also sad your thinking about reporting him, it's not a criminal thing to do, he pays for his water just like you do.
Have you got nothing better to do with your time than snoop around what others are doing?

The ban is not the publics fault, its the water companies, their profits are still rising as your hose ban stays.

They are laughing all the way to the bank.
