Host and domain registration problem, what to do...

I renewed my domain and host as normal at the end of last year having been with them since 2003. I only really use the hosting for photos and images.

But on Jan 11th the domain stopped working, the front page is now a generic website expired with a load of adverts. The host hasn't replied to my emails and I've been on hold for far too long to their support phone number.

A whois shows:
Current Registrar: ONLINENIC, INC.
IP Address: 193.22.xxx.xxx (ARIN & RIPE IP search) (xxx'd by me)
Record Type: Domain Name
Server Type: Other
Lock Status: clientDeleteProhibited
WebSite Status: Active

If the host is about to go bust, what can I do to rescue my domain name? I'll happily write off the cash I paid and move to someone else. In fact I'd happily do that even if they're not going bust...

Help!
 
Transfer it to another provider asap.

Just needs the domain unlocked and the transfer auth EPP code, along with you listed as the admin email contact.

Try http://www.register1.net - many here use them, if you contact their support I'm sure they can guide you :)

I'd hate to lose my domain after owning it for 8 years just because of what has slowly become a crappy host.
 
I'm also having huge problems with Web Mania.

They're charging me for a domain I have never owned, and I've also requested 3 EPP codes so I can switch my bigger sites to a better host, but they have not provided them.

Their livechat and phone service constantly refers issues to their second line (presumably the owner) who never responds. When I say never, I mean it's now 3 months on and I've threatened to sue, and still nothing. Not a single reply to email and no published phone number.

@6thElement if you have any ideas perhaps we could share tactics?
 
Let me know how you get on, my problem is the domain expired a week ago despite my payment, another few weeks and the grace period expires and it's free for anyone to grab :/
 
How did you contact them? I fired off an email to the EU support email address but I got an auto reply saying I need to register with them to raise a ticket.
 
I just registered (you dont have to be a customer) and opened a new ticket and explained I was a customer of Web Mania who are a reseller of theirs. They replied within 12 hours
 
Hmm, I tried again after 24 hours and got the same reply as the first time :rolleyes:

"Please kindly note that we have again forwarded your request directly to our partner who is managing the domains. And hope you will get their resolution in 1 working day. However, if they fail to respond to your request, you may contact us again for the further assistance. Thanks for your kind patience!"

I'm just going to chase them everyday until they step in
 
I hate suck ass companies and especially hosts! They never warn you of issues and i've lost data before due to idiots that can't do their job.
 
You need the administrator email account to be changed on the whois to an email address you have access to. OnlineNIC did that for me, I requested my new registrar send the transfer email again, clicked on the link in that email sent from my new registrar, a couple of days later you get an email from OnlineNIC saying a transfer has been requested (you don't need to do anything with it), then 3 days later your transfer will go through.

Mine completed this morning \o/
