Having installed the i7 2700k, I have noticed temps are getting quite hot (and I have only been playing Trials Evolution Gold). Within 45minutes of game play, it reached around 65oC on 3 cores, with two cores at 68oC. That is a little bit too hot? I have a Arctic Cooler Rev 2 heatsink.

Any suggestions?

I don't know that cooler too well but it does seem hot,in gaming for me I usually sit at 55c for the cpu cores and that's at 4.5ghz 1.344v (2600k)but using a noctua d14 cooler

maybe check the heatsink/mounting brackets and or repaste the cpu

Yeah, on my old CPU it never really went over 56c, that is what started my concern! :P I will check mounting in the morning, as I don't like doing the paste without sunlight :D

What's the best way to apply TIM?

just a small pea shaped blob in the cntre, let the heatsink spread it

I spread it with my finger but either way is fine

So, just dobble some on, and the heatsink will spread it with its weight? I'll try that method. Prime 95 the best way to check 100% temps? For about 10mins?
