Doesn't look like this news has reached here yet. Feel free to flame me if this is a repost.

Basically there's some topless skins in the game files that can be unlocked using the construction set. Unsurprisingly it's caused a bit of a fuss and the PC version is being recalled and rebadged with a Mature rating (that's 17+). As I understand it it's actually not as serious as with GTA:SA since it's only a mature rating, not adults only (because that extra year makes so much difference  ). I hear some shops refuse to sell AO titles but they're fine selling M rated games.

I knew this was going to happen at some point because I knew about the topless skins. You'd have thought they might have learnt from the Hot Coffee incident.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; You can mod pretty much any game this way, and worse. We might as well just skip the slippery slope and ban games altogether, since it's obviously where this kind of sillyness is heading.

The difference is whether the content is there in the first place. In this case it was. It would be ridiculous if they changed ratings depending on completely user-made content. It would be like making Visual Studio illegal because some people have used it to make viruses.

So murdering people and stealing plus god knows what else in the game is fine, but a topless woman isn't? Please.

There really are some losers out there with their priorities completely messed up.

You only have to see the meltdown after Janet Jackson nipple incident to see just how up tight the US is about sex.

Going back to GTA:SA, it was okay to shoot, steal, gang warfare, drugs, hookers, gamble, but a bit of naked flesh!!!!

Won't someone think of the children

PC Gamer did a little article on the whole issue and here's a little extract:

However, the government recently conducted their own study, the snappily titled 'Review of research on the impact of violent games on young people'. The conclusion is: "The whole field of videogame violence is under researched. To cite one leading academic in this field: "I cannot think of another important issue which scientists have been willing to reach conclusions on such a small body of reasearch.""

I think that nicely sums up the whole media attack on games.

It's just to do with how they do the models. They have the body and clothes separately and then tack the clothes on to the body, so that you don't need loads of full body models for the many different outfits.

The nude model is in there, with just a bra on top, which is removed when the model is actually dressed.

So it is like hot coffee all over again, as the developers knowingly put the content in there. Granted, it's not exactly the most titilating stuff, but nevertheless, it's enough for some panic and backtracking on the part of the ERSB.

wasnt that like a 15 anyway, still damn nice shower scene IIRC

He's probably reffering to a command that lets you play as naked Mona Sax (can't really remember the name). You don't even have to install anything, just type a command into console and you're away.

Still theres nudity in 15 rated films which is why it doesnt matter... with Oblivion it was underrated considering the accessible content in... with San Andreas it was an 18 wasnt it?.. i dont understand that because 18 adult movies obviously have explicit scenes in.. think it was the fact you played some part in it.. but still

Failed politicians need something on their agenda to get their profile up so they attack a currently vulnerable medium. They've been talking about music making people violent before and now it's game's turn. In America there have already been a few lawsuits to ban violent games in some states but judges are having none of it so vert few of them are successful.

Apparently there is no "nude model" only a nude skin. That means the bra is part of the model but there is a nude skin that gets put over it. So it looks a bit odd since there is the shape of a bra there, but it's covered with a skin colour and nipples.

Absolutly pointless and ridiculous, WHY CARNT THE GOVERMENT SPEND OUR TAX MONEY ON CATCHING CRIMINALS, MAKES ME SO ******* ANGRY

Oh dear. Research will either prove, disprove or encourage further research in the field. People are worried that kids playing computer games may be disturbed in some way by the wanton destruction they release. This could either prove them right or shut them up.

Oh by the way, if you are going to capitalise the whole bloody sentence, spell it right.
