Hot swappable drives?

Ok,

This may be a dump question.. I did a quick google though and wasn't able to come to a good answer, i'm sure someone will know here for sure.

I have just bought myself an Obsidian 800D and spent the evening moving everything in my PC over. Two of my drives are in the "hot swappable bays", where I can literally just pull them out of my computer. The drives in these bays are just my storage drive and my backup drive.

If I was just just... y'know.. pull one out while my machine was running, I would expect it wouldn't like it.. perhaps a BSOD.

Would I need a special drive to do that?
Shall I give it a whirl and see what happens?

If you enable AHCI mode in the sata options of the BIOS then hotswapping is one of the features it offers. If you installed the OS in IDE mode you may need to tinker to get the OS to boot in AHCI

Yep, it's in ACHI mode (It shows on AS SSD as ACHI also). The other hard drives are Western Digital Greens, I assume if the SSD is in ACHI then they will be also?

Do I need to press any kind of eject button or... just pull it out?

Seems really odd to me... so if I pull this out whilst it's being backed up to... Windows will just stop any transfers and I assume show some kind of error?
