Houllier might leave liverpool

YES!!!
Somebody take him please, now lets hope Liverpool are in secret talks with another good manager around the world as his replacement, although I don't think Thompson could do any worse that what Houlier is doing at the moment.

Yea it was coming for a long time now, I mean ten games without a win over December/January spoke for itself. I would be really dissapointed if the reds did not get into Champions League this year so will all the other fans and members of the club. New manager will no doubt shake up the side, mabye give good players like Baros, Babel and the like a run in the side as for me Babel is much better than Carragher and Baros is much better than any other Liverpool striker this season.

Now the question is who exactly replaces Houlier?

Isn't martin o' neills contract due to run out this summer? He's a possible replacement, as i believe he has taken celtic as far as he can. However his tactics are too one dimensional in my opinion.

Heh, one dimensional tactics would be a step up from Houllier's  :p

I think it would be wise of Houllier to move on as I notice from watching the team play, there is no creativity or sign that we are going to beat the opposition.

If we can get Martin O'Neil then fantastic. You look at Houllier on the sidelines and he never says Booo and the first thing you say is, "Shout at the team, give them hell" but nope he just stands/sits there half dead speechless.

With O'Neil, he's rowing with the players, ref, and 4th official constantly. He'd put the skits up most player for you know that he you perform poor, he'll come on that pitch and kill you.

So O'Neil has got to be the no 1 target and Houllier, take it easy as you need it to stay alive.

But do you REALLY think that Thompson could do that much better?;) :D

Mate anyone can do better than Gerrard Holier at the moment, as someone said above he don't look the best and he certainly don't look fit for shouting at players and stuff, I mean he should employ Alex Ferguson tactics and start throwing boots about in the changing room mabye then the likes of Owen and Gerrard, Diouf & Diao will pick up on their game.

New manager is needed soon, so that he can have 10 - 15 games in charge to see what players he wants to keep and what players he wants to sell then sell them in the summer make some money back and put it towards new players who will suit the style of play.

As I said yesterday liverpool actually looked good for a period of time then after 20 mins Houlier changes the system and all of a sudden no width and no chances of scoring, no matter what team you play agains width always wins the day and any top side needs it to create goal scoring chances for the forwards.

One thing which i was pleased with yesterday was the amount of chances Cheyrou was taking with his head from crosses into the box, if the crosses had of been closer to the line like proper wingers would provide then there is good chances the likes of Cheyrou or Heskey can latch onto them, but no width = no chances = no goals = crap liverpool.

Doesn't look like he'll go but if he did.......................................Get Fabio Cappello (sp?)

I am sure he's looking for a new club in the summer ;)

Nah don't waste him on Liverpool!!!!!

What will happen is Sven will leave the England post whilst Houllier leaves Liverpool. Sven takes over at Liverpool and either Fabio Capello or Houllier will take over as England manager. I have seen it in my nightmares!!! Gerard Houllier as England manager  I would love Capello to be England manager as he is the 2nd best in the business :D

Let's face it, in recent times Liverpool have become pretty boring to watch - no width, players playing out of position (Heskey is a perfect left winger with that physique, and such amazing ball control too!) and only 1 tactic - short passes to Steven Gerrard who then hoofs (albeit an elegant hoof more often than not) it upfield for Owen to run onto - which has been sussed out by most defences long ago. If they were getting good results, this might be forgivable, but I don't think many Liverpool fans can take dull, poor football AND sub-par results. Liverpool were considered part of the big 3 along with arsenal and man utd until recently, or at least the big 6 coupled with newcastle, chelsea and leeds. To be honest, in the last few months they havent looked much better than the chasing pack like spurs, saints, everton etc.

These poor results and boring football are compounded by the exasperating team selections and tinkering with the lineup. Whether or not you play well seems to have no bearing at all on whether Houllier picks you for the next match - Baros being a case in point. I bet he's the kind of guy who sits down to a meal, and then spends most of his time delicately cutting it up, pushing it around the plate adding sauces etc whilst rarely actually shoving some of the food in his gob. Quite why he goes out and spends bundles of cash on central players like diouf, diao etc when those positions were overloaded with talent in the first place (owen-baros-litmanen, hamaan-gerrard-murphy), meanwhile neglecting to buy any wingers is beyond me. Pushing Riise into midfield helps things on the left, but only if he would pick somebody at left back who could actually defend or manage more than Traore's 5% passing accuracy.

Say what you like about George Graham and his tactics, but It would still be more interesting to watch with him at the helm than Houllier. At least early 90s arsenal played with some width from the likes of Limpar and Merson. And you would be damn sure the defence would be well marshalled, used to playing with each other and not giving away sloppy goals.
