Moved into this house approximately 3 weeks ago and it's been refurbished internally to a fair standard.

I have a slight case of arachnaphobia and just trawled into the second bathroom and I saw 3 giant spiders there and another 2 on my way back to my bedroom.

I feel a little easy around them and there are only so many that I vacuum up!

Are there any methods to keep them away? We're not allowed any pets.

You can buy a spider repellent, no idea how good they are though (some type of spray). Spiders aren't so bad though, I've never seen a house spider attack a human being ;P (in the UK).

My utility room gets infested with slugs for some reason.

I went in there one night and stood on one and I didn't have anything on my feet.

EWWWW!!!

Could still feel it on the bottom on my foot hours later even after I had washed it.

stop being a sissy, theyll die soon enough if theres no food in there for them.

Slugs as mentioned above are a different kettle of fish, be thankful you dont have them.

Get LOADS of huge house spiders here about this time every year. Loads, literally like 5 in every room. Twice I've just been sitting on the sofa and this huge spider just came out from underneath and crawled onto the pillows.

wuss 3 spiders, an infestation??? hehehe

FIVE actually. Definately an infestation!

In all seriousness, I'd leave them alone. They are completely harmless, and only invade your house to take advantage of your central heating. It could be worse, you could have cockroaches, or locusts, or red scorpions

Or. The worst of them all. Yes, it's moths. Jesus wept. When we went away for a fortnight we came back to find our clothes half eaten, curtains half-eaten, carpets near the curtains thick of dust, and about 50 of the bas****s dead at the back of the cupboards and wardrobes. Don't know where the hell they came from.

But yes, back on topic, best just leave them be, they aren't harming. ;)

Spiders are good, they eat all the other bugs which fly into my window on humid summer days.

Nuke from orbit.
