House of Doom - DIY

Quite an epic achievement. How long has it taken you overall?

When I started our renovation, I had loads of spare time and buckets of motivation. As time passed and work took over, coming home to a building site every night became quite depressing lol. How did you get your work/DIY to balance out?

Oh and if you have any motivation left, can you bottle some for me? :)

I can confirm the house looks amazing and is soooo much better than it was! Pheebs I think I still have dust in my bag from mu visit! Lol! :D

When can I come and play with you and Sam? (on the bikes too ;))

You are welcome to the Residence of Not-So-Doomy-House whenever you desire Mister!!

We will have motorbikes sorted by end of February! DEFINITELY come play then! :D

Holy crap a female DIY enthusiast?

Hell yeh!! I'm awful I am.... love it all super dooper amounts!

Because I was in full time employment round the clock for the initial 6-8months I did very few odd jobs then on it (mainly focused my efforts on nuking the garden!) I'd say... I probably spent under a year doing it in total. I could have easily done it in 6-8months had I known the right people and the area as well as I do now (not originally from around here and knew no one as such so all my trade links were gone)! I used savings for about 4months to work on it solidly alone with no employment. Then I just worked late late evenings and went to work super sleepy eyed :D I am now self employed... much simpler to do any DIY when you work from home!

Two wardrobes, two chest of drawers and two side tables plus a sofa in the sales (which is from a boutique - non of this Sofaland malarkey. Originally was £1800 to £570 I think) = £2500. Considering I am a blagger and a half I managed to get good deals. Solid oak stuff and free standing! I'm happy with it :)

That is a good deal then! I stand corrected!

Hehe! Thank you! I am a bit of a stippler when it comes to good quality furniture! I am also a barterer beyond belief... you should see the guys when I walk into my local Bradfords... they make a dive for it before I start the hair tossing and bargaining down! Being a lady in the trade is a positive at times :D Though saying that, lots of negatives as people try and pull the wool over my eyes! Love it when that happens though and I can start taking the mic out of them! Hahah!

Fan bloody tastic and if you didn't have a fella by now I'd be down on one knee myself :D

Hehehe! I hope one day he will! Think I'm heading in the right direction!
