House problem, opinions?

or leave and then they would be out of pocket anyway?

Nice way to treat your friends there. They've clearly done the OP a favour by not being turds about the contract and lack of formal recognition for this person. They have potentially all jeopardised themselves by allowing the OP in with no contract which = subletting = illegal.

It does all depend on the contract and how long is left to run thereon. If this is renewal stage then leaving would be absolutely fine. Just packing up one day and leaving them with two empty rooms and with all of the onus to fill them is unfair. Telling them that you will be leaving in advance etc is fine.

Well guys, having time to think i have calmed down and i see where everyone is coming from. their is a hell of a lot more to this than meets the eye, to much to type about here.

They all went into a room and we overheard them talking and basicly this is what they want.....

1, me and my GF to be in this room and pay $130 while his girlfriend will pay $30 for the room my girlfriend was in and he pays $82 along with all the other house mates... but she wont sleep in it, just put her things in it.

My arguement? maybe we should pay $130 as their are two of us....but she shouldnt get a full room for $30 which my girlfriend has payed originally $98 for and then $82 for the last 7 months??? also we could find some one to be in it for $82 and we all pay $82?!?!?!? aaahhh they are so dumb!

Their are so many sides and arguments....

Why dont we all pay $70 each if his girlfriend is suddenly moving in?
When i move out should my girlfriend pay $130 for this 1 room while everyone else pays $30 or $82...

Its just getting rediculas now, all these numbers in my head i cant sleep or think straight.

Why should we pay $164 for one room? when the empty room is filled they suddenly dont mind us paying $82 for one room?

Because you agreed to rent the other room! Put it this way if you went on holiday for 3 weeks you'd still have to pay for the empty room so why not while you find someone to replace you?

Shocked me with the replies so far tho... maybe i have been looking at this the wrong way. Bare in mind the one causing trouble does have a girlfriend round to stay a lot of the time? she doesnt controbute to any thing?

Well ask him to get his girlfriend to contribute something then.
