HOUSE RAFFLE!!!!

I spent 10 times more on a stunning blond girl last Friday and all she did was take her clothes of and jiggle about a bit for a few songs.....

Some bird in Swindon did this several years back. Tickets were only a tenner back then, iirc, but the house was much cheaper :D Nobody in their right mind would have a house costing a million quid in Swindon! Think her lottery only went ahead once all tickets had been sold, as opposed to the cash "prize fund" this guy's doing. If anything, he might be better off if nearly all of the tickets get sold, so he gets to keep 35% of a million quid for doing not very much at all.

he's making a dime..., why cant u just put £25 on the lottery?

Because that would get you a 1 in 560,000 chance of winning possibly quite a bit less than 1 million. The lottery is a fools game.

The prudent thing to do is go and bet at the bookies because you can choose exactly what odds you want to bet on.

25 £1 bets on 1,000,000 to one odds would give you a 1 in 40,000 chance of winning.

Once again, I point you towards the numerous amount of dodgy phone in scandals run by the BBC! Just because something is on TV and in the Media (if you can class The Sun as decent media) doesn't make it above board.

why the hell would it be a scam though ?

hes making money out of it so why would he need to scam people

do you think the lottery is a scam too ? bbc could be maiking it all up...

I was about to say this is exactly the same odds and payout as this raffle if it's genuine and doesn't sell 46000 tickets - but that's me forgetting that the guy's skimming 35% or whatever of the pot

nah he's only skimming 'up to' 35% of the pot

i.e. if the prize fund only got to 100k he'd still have his advertising costs etc.. covered

if it got to around 1 million but didn't reach the target I doubt he'd take 35% - has got a solicitor involved to ensure fairness etc.. so he'd simply deduct costs etc.. (which could be a decent chunk of cash but wouldn't be 350k)

Mate, let him have his tantrum about it. The BBC is a conspiracy and there trying to control our minds with dodgy phone in scams and house raffles!!!! BAHHHHHH

Yes, but as ive said previously, for the cost of his gaming licence, raffle ticket printing costs, solicitors fees for running it and holding the deeds its costing him £12k a month it said in papers and on BBC...

*PLUS* Advertising and admin! and the upkeep of the place

He doesn't need a gaming licence afaik? Having to answer a question before being allowed to enter gets around that requirement.

Doubt they'll sell all 46,000 tickets and if they don't...

The Promoters will be entitled to retain 35% of the Entry Fees to cover administration and marketing expenditure. The remaining balance following deduction of the 35% is “the Prize Fund”. The Prize Fund will then be distributed to the winning Entrant;

There's still nigh on 300k to win already. With not wholly unreasonable odds. I'll stick £25 on that :)

just bought me a ticket :)

I'd hate to relocate, but gosh darn I'd better win that house!

Who's guaranteeing that the draw is fair and random? The solicitors? Lots of scope for manipulation in this one.
