One of our housemate's left and he was a ****. But, the **** had the password and username to log into our netgear router. Is there anyway of getting this back? He's not responding to texts/emails or anything.

from this slightly insulted homogay to your self, there will be a tiny tiny hole either on the underside of your router or at the back of it. insert a pin / needle / paper clip into the hole and you should feel the switch press in, also the lights on the front should either go off or freeze when its pressed. hold it in for ten seconds then release and use the default log in details. usually they are admin / password

or admin / admin

Infact, with the word gay becoming widely used to describe something as rubbish or stupid what do we now call gays? Cant call them homo's, thats just rude.

Which router is it?

This is the reset procedure from my old Netgear RP114:
  1. Press the reset button on the back until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (To avoid accidental resets, the small button is recessed. Use a pen or paperclip to access it.)
  2. Release the button.
  3. Wait for the router to reboot.

If the router was not cleared, try these additional steps AFTER the router has finished rebooting.

  4. Unplug the router's power.
  5. Press and hold the reset button. While the button is held down, reconnect router's power.
  6. Continue to hold the reset button for 20 seconds after reconnecting the power.
  7. Wait for the router to reboot.
  8. Log in with the default password.

Slightly OT, but with most routers (ours is a linksys ADSL wireless anyhow), removing power won't erase the details? Only pressing the reset will do? It's just we switch ours off at the wall overnight and if it is left alone and although it's been fine so far, I don't want to fnd it back at default after time away.

No it won't the information is stored in flash memory and retained unless a forced reset occurs

I should have said, the router is a DG834GT.

Sorry if you found the homogay remark a bit harsh. It was just a random insult that's all :).

If you find the word 'homogay' rude which I do, then 'retarded' is as well.

People using the words like retarded or something may need to start growing up and give up using swearing words altogether.

Thats just tarded :p

Although I can't see the connection with this thread

It was a random insult. If I was to call somebody a piece of dog doo - surely anybody would understand that I wasn't LITERALLY calling them an amount of digested chicken passed through a dog's bowel?

Thanks for the help in this thread again.

Tried this?

username: admin
password: password

I have mate (with caps and no caps etc) but to no avail. He said that the password and user name had been changed to our streetname and house number - but upon trying every combination I could think of I still wasn't being allowed in.

This I think is going to be a pain in the arse. I have to reset the router, and then manually add everybody in the house back in, and also re-enter Pipex's details which I have lost :(
