Housing failure

Define "population crisis", LOL.
Evidence shows it as a fact that all immigration combined is a net contributor to the economy to the tune of billions of £s per year.
But let's not allow the truth to spoil a pathetic mantra of unfounded bile.

As an aside, our local trust area has seen a massive population increase for various reasons over the past 15 years.
As we have a DUP MP currently, nothing is being done, we have no local executive, but provision of funds has not been made available, i fear ten yearly census to prepare for governmental dept simply isn't frequent enough in this day and age.

Our local health service is falling asunder, waiting lists for many departments are at an time high.
Beyond anything you have in England, routine lists at 4 years, urgent list at 26 months.
Utterly insane, some departments functioning purely on red flag lists with no one else being seen.

Local commissioning starting with education for placement of twice the number of doctors and associate staff is the only way forward to solve this, the conservative ******** of half price fast tracking visa for doctors and nurses excluding social care today is such utter **** that even those ***** didn't do it themselves until an election was waved around.

I doubt much will change, as no doubt we'll elect whatever DUP is put forward for the role, but for once I'd really hope we don't.

I agree with you net contributed business, but overall our local services with no provisioning doesn't actually matter if thye are net contributors, as i am not convinced under bowman we're getting any money for them anyway.

-edit, no idea why my txt is in black...

I don't really think that the cost of qualifying is what stops people training as Doctors; unfortunately, General Practice is not an attractive career choice these days.

Giving up vocational and "practical" technical courses and failing to support apprenticeship schemes was certainly a huge mistake.

Deciding what is a "relevant" course is not entirely straightforward.

Analysing *some* courses these days is straightforward enough - for instance - for approx every 100 graduate course places in psychology there are only 5 job vacancies. This is a travesty where the university system makes all the profit and leaves the vast majority of its graduates out in the cold. As well as being better targeted, University ought to be for the academically minded and academically motivated. For others who aren't t all interested n academic subjects, there ought to be other forms of equally valued further education. I realised in my early twenties that there really is no such thing as a fundamentally stupid person - engage an apparently not very bright individual in conversation on a topic that interests them and they quickly dispel the appearance of being a bit dull. It is primarily a matter of motivation and personal engagement. What is really lacking in todays fixation with league audit trails and tables is that we do not reward teachers to motivate young minds, to engage with them. The system is broken because far, far too much emphasis is placed on audit and paper trails and "quality control of syllabuses" rather than actual teaching. It's saddening.

100% this. As my own example, someone who struggled to rhyme a four-letter word with another for the incredibly simple Zygolex, could just as easily have quite a complex conversation about some animals or his/other peoples tattoos.

I can only echo the two posts above. The systems in place are in dire need of an overhaul, which can only be achieved by the removal of the 'too long in the tooth' staff clogging up the upper positions.

The huge municipal housing stock has been lost to Right to Buy. Bought for a song and taken over by the children. I feel sorry for young people today. Us old people's greed has pushed prices and rent through the roof.
