Basically guys i have found that when fixing a CPU with a pin gone you can in fact stick a cut staple in the socket to allow metal connection. Seriously instead of spending £135 or so buying a new processor this is a great fix.

Yeah suppose it would work on all the older cpus (early P4) but no chance on the newer stuff where then pins are in the socket and not on the cpu :D

I'm going to dig out an old mobo with a broken pin when i get home and give it ago... Just got to try and renember where my trusty old e6600 is..

I would have got some nice wide wire, to stop it overheating and give better conduction, but seems it worked fine! So, paper clip to kick start a PSU, staple to fix a CPU... I need to get a PC repair kit from Staples or somewhere!

I like this though, Its almost as good as the day you could fix a computer with an oscilloscope and a soldering iron!
