So looking on ee I can get 3g where I live. With o2 currently and I can get 2g. I moved to o2 because I knew it worked and had better signal than Vodafone that I was on. So basically are these things accurate? I don't want to sign a new contract and be stuck with bad reception. I spend most of my day alone in fields so good phone signal is a big issue.

Not 100% accurate, if you're in the "outdoor" only zone I find that can be less accurate than the "indoor and outdoor" one. Even then, it doesn't really factor in any possible interferences that may affect the coverage even more.

Not even close to accurate. They are based on scenarios which exist in perfect times (Roughly late autumn, no other users on the cell, nothing obstructing line of sight built recently, no other environmental aspects affecting signal etc....). Ideally check with a cheap payg sim or find someone on O2 and get them to come over for a beer or something :)
