what a lot of people seem to forget is that the PC doesnt need to have a constant stream of new games released to show off what its technology can do whereas console gamers seem more content with flash gfx over content and gameplay
games like Counterstrike, UT and the Battlefield series have been around for many years with thousands/millions still playing after more than say 5years, with competitions and leagues still going strong
MMo's like WoW, EQ , Lotro etc have millions playing many hours daily for years whilst happily paying constant monthly fee's, with new content being added sometimes freely
Public modifications to outstanding games like MTW , Company of Heroes and the above fps keep interest going
Simulations like Microsoft Flight , rFactor , LFS or Grand Prix 4 are probably the closest you can get to the real thing, again with a constant stream of free additions
So when everyones holy grail Crysis is released and possibly turns out to be a duffer due to hype and the posts about the PC's doom get churned out , the more mature and sensible PC gamers will still be sitting there enjoying the best games ever released on any platform
**if your going to grab a console then get a Wii, its the most refreshing experience in console history since i can remember**
