How bad are Punto's?

Thread revival and all that but been looking at some of the fiestas on AT and there are some really cheap examples.
Is there anything obviously wrong with either of these two?
Car one
Car two
If I can get away with something that cheap that'll last a couple of years I'll be laughing.

Cheers

Going with the clio, punto and corsas i've been in i would choose the clio. The punto is really cheap inside and cant touch 90.

The clio is the same as the punto,a 1.2, the interior just feels a lot more comfy and i prefer the engine.

The two corsas ive bene in both feel crap, solid seats compared to the clio, the 1.2 twinport(has red seats n stuff??) defo feels better than my mates 1.0 thing. If i had to take either it would be between the 1.2 clio or the 1.2 corsa. The corsa looks more modern inside but i dont think its as comfy as the clio.

The curvy shaped festa's are ok from the ones ive been in. Comfy and i think it was a 1.25 engine was fast enough and fun.

1st one avoid... 1.3 engine is not the one to get. The 1.25 is, more refined, faster, better designed and is the much better option out of the two.

The second one is a nice one, 1.4 is 90bhp-ish iirc. Nice engine but are more prone to bottom end going. Ghia aswell which is nice to have some 'proper' stuff in a car like that lol.

Seen any 1.25s?

Seen a few 1.25s. Only reason they've not been of interest is the colour really which is a bit petty.
I wasn't aware there actually was a 1.3 engine - just assumed they were rounding 1.25 up to 1.3.

Cheers
:)

The wife has had two, a 98 S reg 1.2 sporting we didnt have a bit of bother with it, someone drove into it and made it look like a banana! the second is a 2000 W reg 1.2 sporting and we have never had any problems with that either! Both are/was excellent little run arounds imo :)

Found this one which looks a bit better and a 1.25
Seems to contradict itself though - claims to be a Zetec (and from the picture appears to have the badge) but is listed as 1.25 LX.

Worth going for?

It has LX on the back. The 1.25 will be the Zetec engine, so probably why it has Zetec over the repeaters.

Interestingly my GF's old one had 'Encore Fusion' over the repeaters.

i no from experience not to get a punto, i had a 96 punto that i had for 2 years, but i had spent a good amount of cash keeping it running, was a 1.1. did 99mph! bout 1 month ago the head gasget went on the motorway at 1am which wasnt nice. now the car is scraped :)

my friends boyfriend had a newer shaped punto, i think after a few months the engine siezed on him so he had to get a new one. my other friend got a newr shaped punto and after a few weeks his engine management light came on, it has now bin sat on his driver for about 5 months.

basicaly they suck, italian build quality, not good.

best car you could get tho not "cool" is a micra, every time i went to the garage, which was quite a few times, i was told i should have got one, cos they never see then in the garage.

but i recently got a 2000 fiesta 1.25 zetec, from parkers they have top speed 104mph, 0 -60 12.7. they are quite nippy in 1st, 2nd, 3rd. and is happy to sit at 60 - 70 mph on motorway, but if u want to go faster it will do it.

as borat would say, "IT IS NICE"

One of my work colleagues got a Punto quite cheap.

He has had a few things go on it - ignition and quite recently and expensive too, had his clutch fail on him, amongst other things. Head Gaskets are another common fault in them. We all know what a headache they can be and thankfully (touch wood) my car won't have the Head Gasket go.

It's like they say Fix It Again Tomorrow!

Hopefully the new Puntos are not so plagued with such problems!

YES! that fez looks a very nice example, cant believe how cheap it is. That would be easily 2k-ish down here in the south west. The 1.25 is a Zetec engine... but also ford decided to call one of their trim levels 'Zetec' aswell so can be a bit confusing. The 'Zetec' trim level basically means its the more sporty trim level e.g. white dials, rear spoiler, CL, EW, PS, 'sporty' seats... That doesnt look like a Zetec though, so i think your right in your assumption in that it is an LX.

Any more quezzies, feel free to ask...

Glad you got a car you like, hope it doesn't now get the gremlins ;) . The 1.25 was deffo the car to go for. Good luck with it.
