How best to clear up Google Drive? (Need space!)

I'm having a bit of a brain fart . I have tons of old camera RAW files from my photography days that I absolutely do not need, but they are using up a tremendous amount of my Google Drive and I'm hitting the 90% warnings. If I delete them online via the Drive website, won't my PC re-sync them back up to the cloud? And if I delete them from my PC, won't they re-sync down? :p

Maybe I need another coffee.. but what do I do here?

TIA.

Just to clarify, are your photos in a folder in your Google Drive, or are they in Google Photos?

It's all turned into a confusing mess since Google made the decision to "simplify" things so that Google Photos (including camera roll) no longer shows up in Google Drive itself (even though it still counts towards your storage space).

Honestly I'm not sure. I have 60GB in my Drive (which I believe includes old photos imported when I set it up e.g. from old phones, but definitely includes some RAW files backups). And I have 30GB in my Google Photos.

I need to have a rainy Saturday to get into this properly I think...

No, the sync is the update/new action you've taken - so if you delete on the drive, then the "sync" is for the PC to also update (and vice versa)- that's the latest action taken by you, the user.

Just test it out with a file if unsure.
