How can I beat eBay scammers?

:p Blimey, people do go to extremes ;)

With regards to the payment bouncing, is there no way of sending the goods once the payment has been received and cleared?

Sorry for being thick folks but.......

Given that payments can bounce up to and over a month after they first occur, it's not entirely practical.

this is getting more and more annoying, I listed a dummy nokia 8800 a while back and the winner e-mailed me saying "im so lucky to win the auction, I have seen your phone and like the features, please post to nigeria". They really gotta start clampin down on these morons, everytime I list something I have atleast 3 nigerian scammers bidding on it

Its not only Nigeria... also stay clear of Vietnam.

I NEARLY got scammed by this... but the lovely FedEx people managed to stop the delivery as it was on its way to his house!

What they usually do is big through eBay accounts which they have found out the password to (so checking high feedback is not always right), and then they pay through PayPal accounts which they have found out the password to - most often you notice that the PayPal account had a different postal address to the eBay account. Then they ask you to post the item elsewhere... once you have posted it, the actual owner of the PayPal account, notices they have £500 missing, and PayPal steal your money, and give it back to them.

That about sums it up!

EDIT: I decided to scam the scammers by requesting more and more money for different reasons (insurance, customs, import duty - just made stuff up). Each time they sent me the money, through different PayPal accounts, I contacted PayPal and refunded the money. Hopefully the scammer should have less PayPal accounts at his/her disposal. True, I didn't really scam them, because I got nothing out of it, but it was the right thing to do!

just do what one guy did, make a fake laptop out of cardboard, and send it to the scammer with the value of the package marked as really high so he has to pay loads for customs!
