How can I boost the burst rate of my new WD5000AAKS ?

How can I boost the burst rate of my new WD5000AAKS without losing out in reading and write performance ?
I have got a Abit NF-7 v.2.0 mobo with a sata silicon 3112 chipset.
Drive is set on Sata 1.0 standard, which is the max supported by the mobo.

I have readings of about 100 mb/s max burst rate...

There's no point in spending time trying to improve it. The burst rate is virtually irrelevant when it comes to real world performance.
