Anyway to check max download speeds on my line or what the line can handle?

currently on 8mb and get download speeds of normally 750 kb/s

Also is be a good isp?

according to sam knows? i cant get be / o2 any of the llu stuff :(

guess im stuck with 8mb?

Yes, untill BT roll out 21CN to your exchange or one of the LLU providers starts offering things. Though as you have a good sync (getting near full speed from your current ADSL line) you should get nearly the full sync possible when you are upgraded to ADSL2+.

Also, you should count yourself lucky you can get an 8Mbit line, my parents live out in the sticks and get just above 1Mbit/sec really annoys me about how people say they are 'stuck' on a 'slow' service when most of the country can't even get half of what you have! :P

If you can't get Be/O2 LLU, you can't get Be at all. They don't (but O2 do, and they're the same company) offer ADSL via BT Wholesale.

im currently with bt have been for years. had no problems just want some thing faster.

My tip, pretend you're switching to TalkTalk. We were going to, as we were on 8Mb broadband with BT, paying £OMG pounds, and looking for something cheaper. Since we only get about 6Mb where we live, and they offered 7, we thought, eh, why not? After the letter came through saying we'd get 3Mb, we cancelled that and went back to BT. After calling BT to make sure we were still with them, they cut our monthly charge down to 1/4 of what it was before, and sent us the new home hub. The only catch is we're stuck in another 12 month contract, but for £7/month (normally £25/month for just broadband) including all free landline calls (£10/month), what can you fault?

I was looking at Be*/O2 before though, but we only got ADSL2+ at our exchange AFTER staying with BT in a 12 month contract, so we can't switch just yet.
