I'm with virgin and have a superhub in modem mode connected to a Asus RT-N66U. I have it passworded that only I know and I've also set the router turn his PC off at 11pm which it has been doing.

Last night however I noticed he was on his PC at 11:15, he said he can still use Skype on it even though he can't use Internet but yet he clearly had Facebook on is screen!

I'm baffled, how's he doing this and what can I do to restrict his access?

He's 19 sits on his backside all day in front of his computer and thinks the world owes him and its not as easy as telling him to turn it off believe me we've tried everything :(

Take his PC away, or start treating him like the adult he is and cut off everything until he starts paying for it.

Well he is most likely changing his IP possibly?

You want to turn it on its head here. I would turn the rule to block everything except pre defined IP's, So other devices get access.

You could use mac address signing? cannot change that one!

mac spoofing is relatively simple.

It was really aimed at using mac addresses to control the access. If limiting the access to time/day for a specific mac address, it removed the potential for the IP address being changed to give access if blocked.

How about giving him a right beating! as he's 19 it's not child abuse?
But as Snips86 says, Cant you assign a Mac address?

I have set the router to block his mac address in parental control. Router is running latest official fw.

I expect people will say lay the law down with him but honestly he's a nightmare :( so just looking at cutting his internet or he would literally be on it till 4am and we have to be up for work at 6am, he's noisy sod!

I think stronger measures are required than stopping him using it at 11pm. Tell him Internet access is a privilege you either earn or pay for.
Any cheek them go Windmill on him.

11pm is a very early cut off point for a 19 year old, I would have been fuming if those rules were applied to me back then.

What is the issue you have with him browsing the web at that time?
