cheers

this is the nearest one

http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange.php?ecode=SDCSHM

about 1.4 miles from my house.

Can you tell what the max line I could get is? Currently only on a 1m line :(
What are your line stats (SNR Noise margin and attenuation)? It should tell you these on you router status page.

You can't find out what speed you will get by distance as your phone line is not in a straight line to the exchange.

Lee, did you mange to look into my line stats? Or could someone else?

Why do you want to know how long your line is?

Its the signal quality thats most important tbh

Also your syncing at 6mb but with a low SNR (Noise margin less than 10db)you wont be able to go higher

You're getting about as much as you're going to get - probably a bit more on ADSL2+.
You might get a little more if you pushed the SNR margin down a little (presumably the target SNR margin's been increased to 9dB), but it would probably make your connection unstable.

You don't have to change it for it to increase - BT will do it automatically if your connection shows signs of being unstable.
