To find a bleeding web browser that actually works?

After leaving IE, I've tried both Firefox and Opera. Firefox crashed regularly and ate up memory like nobodys business (100MB). Opera was more stable, but sites would simply not respond using it, oh and it also ate memory (99MB). In my despair I am considering going back to IE.

I just want a frigging Web browser that can actually look at websites without eating all the resources on my computer and crashing at the slightest sign of a non-w3c-compliant website! What the hell is going on out there?

Nowadays all browsers are fairly stable.

Sounds to me like it's a problem with your PC. Any idea why they are crashing?

Have not had any other problems with apps on my pc. Firefox crashes sometimes when quicktime movies are played through it. Quite annoying.

I've been using IE for years and never had a major problem with it, not recently anyway (probably since IE6). It's fast and effective, exactly what i need. Just wondering why people feel the need to move away, to me a web browser is a web browser

Most other browsers both load up themselves and load each page faster, there's customisable plugins for other browsers for blocking adverts, downloading all files on the page (jpegs, documents etc) straight into one folder, literally thousands of addons that you can't get with IE. They also tend to have little nifty things. I was a bit IE fan but haven't used it seriously since I tried Opera and Firefox. I now use firefox 99% of the time mostly because I find IE in any incarnation too bulky and I'd miss my tabbed browser window!

Try another browser, if you dont like it, unlike IE you can uninstall ;)

Konqueror is very nice if you find Firefox not to your liking. It uses the KHTML rendering engine that Safari borrowed. It's fast, stable, and Acid2 compliant.

It needs KDE though.
