How can three people drown in this pool ?

yes we reckoned temperature

i don't think so, i've been plunged into a Scottish Loch with lower temperature than this pool would have been and although it took all my breath away natural survival instincts kicked in and i got ashore,
this pool was too small for them to all die from cold temp and not reaching the sides to climb out...

Rare to find any direct metal to metal connections with the pool plus all live systems, ladders and even the re-bar will be earthed. No pump malfunction could result in that. A single drowning - yes, again wouldn't be the pump but would be sub-standard outlet design (happens though, surprisingly often). Chlorine fumes? Nah. Would require a massive amount of chemicals to do it - the worst you'd see is pretty nasty respiratory damage but they wouldn't croak immediately from the volumes to hand - especially in an outdoor pool.

My guess - deep end. Couldn't swim. One in after the other. Seen it before sadly.

Apparently they could all swim. It was the staff member who 'struggled' to get out that i find particularly telling.

Not sure I agree with your view on the Cl poisoning, what if some work experience kid chucked a few too many scoops into the pool, leads to gasping and you huffing down a lunge full or two of water.

You suggesting the wife had something to do with it?

no just seems a bit odd to me that a large resort has no life guard present at pool, no cctv and no other guests or staff appear to have heard any commotion of three people supposedly drowning.

I was there in November, 2nd time to same resort.

It’s not heated, the water is freezing, it’s damn deep with no gradual slope from very small shallow end and no life guards.

Also not being heated and cold it’s hardly used, most mornings I had the whole pool to myself and around this time of year it’s empty most of the day, the resort only has one heated pool which is no way near as deep and can be walked the whole area but it’s tucked away amongst some villas.
Is the water very cold? I hadn't thought that it wouldn't be heated. Very sad if it was something so simple.

A few too many scoops wouldn't be enough. You'd need literally gallons along with gallons of acid and they'd need to go in immediately after it was dumped.

I thought the press were putting down to something to with the pump dragging the girl under and then the family members downing trying to drag her up?

The pump wouldn't drag her under however it's possible she either got hair caught in one of the outlets or if there was only a single outlet suction could hold her on to it. Common design flaw in older pools and those built by morons. In this country we always have at least 2 located more than 2m apart to prevent just this occurrence.
