How can you justify a 2 grand gaming pc?

Its because if you play a pc multiplayer game , BF2 for example - you will have a major advantage if you have a £2000 pc which runs the game fine, to a bloke who has a 9700pro and a pc spec to go with the card and lags all the time. One of the main factors you win is because you have more money to spend on luxuries such as a top notch pc.

This is where console MP is different. Everyone has the same spec. Everyone is the same. Everyone is at an equal level of chance of winning from the get go - the only determing factor of who is better is he who puts more time, practise and effort in. (not saying uber pc owners dont of course, but hopefully you can see where im coming from!)

Wouldnt you agree, for fair MP gaming in the future it should be the consoles who get the main focus?

Considering the amount of FAIL in your OP i am surprised anything stood out as truely gob smacking but somehow this bit managed to.
Since when did graphics have anything to do with lag? If you have a slower computer, you run the game at lower graphical settings.
Almost all the top Counter-Strike player play the game at low detail and low resolutions.... this gives them an advantage if anything, not a disadvantage. High detail and good graphics does not make a game any easier to play.

Everyone has the same specification.... yet on UT3 on the PS3, there will be support for KB&Mouse which puts those users at an advantage over the pad users. At least with the PC everyone will have a KB&Mouse to play with.
In terms of the 360, well some will have better headphones than others or will have a headset which means they can talk to their friends to discuss tactics which users without one can't. The good headphones will also allow them to pinpoint peoples position based on sound a lot more effectively. Also the type of connection people have is a consideration. Some people will be closer to the server than others and will get a better ping giving them an advantage.
There is no such this as a truely level playing field. There never has been and there never will be.

As you might have guessed, no i don't agree. There is a place for both. As things like CPL shows, professional gaming is still at home on the PC and i can't see this changing for a very long time. That XLeague TV proves it too, man the games they play re **** to watch. 1 round of slow paced console FPSs is enough to make anyone turn off.

The fact is, these problems are VERY common on PC. All you have to do is open the PC section for there to be a couple of threads on the first page about a game not working, or patches etc..
They aren't that common with decent games, anyway most of the problems are easily solved if you put a tad bit of effort into it. (Providing the game simply isn't riddled with bugs in the first place)

I'd say they are common with many big name games Oblivion, Bioshock etc.

Also many PC gamers aren't as knowledgeable about PC issues as the user base on here. Most people I know wouldn't be arsed to trawl through pages of forum posts looking to identify the correct problem, never mind implementing the solution (editing files etc).

Bioshock will win game of the year, that had as many problems as I've ever heard for a game. Company of Heroes was also plagued with them as was Oblivion.
All huge award winners.
