This is the internet young man. Make yourself look silly, and we'll point it out & only make it worse for you ;)

Oh, and if it 'really ticks you off' take your own advice, and don't post :P

well like i have said its private/personal and i dont wanna go into too much detail, lets just say there is some family dispute and i think certain members have tapped my mum's phone just to spy i.e. who she talks to, what she says etc etc so they can get the upper edge.

hope your curiosity is satisfied.. no drugs, no secret agent, no mafia no govt conspiracy at all..

thanks for the info.. and as it turns out, my mum does have iphone and i DID back it up on my PC but under her user/account which has a password on it so surely no one could have gone into her account unless they knew her password.

If your talking about a family dispute, then unless you have a particuarlly techie (and curious) family, then I wouldn't worry to much. Check there arn't any apps the you didn't install (If there are, uninstall them) and if not sure, do a factory reset. None of the stuff I mentioned is easy or cheap to set up, so I doubt you need to worry.

Believe me, OP, if someone is tapping your phone they have lots of money and friends in very high places. It is now nigh on impossible to do. That is a fact and you can trust me on this. As has been said, you could have had your SIM cloned, but they would have needed to steal your SIM in the first place and then return it.

Unless you have done something very bad to someone in high government, or the mafia, you are just being paranoid.

Do any of the suspects have an indepth understanding of mobile phone technology or work for an intelligence agency? Tapping a phone is not very easy (unless its a landline). Otherwise me thinks paranoia.

Reset it then.

Who the hell has your Mum had a dispute with? M15??

I wouldn't worry OP.

Also LOL at OP for getting  with GD replies! ;)

Not quite a fact. Sure, breaking into the signal between you and the tower is as you say, government/organised crime level. But if they have access to your phone, then its not THAT hard to do.

Walk into your network provider highstreet store and request a new SIM.

Also with Smart phones it is possible to install software that does this - so if you are *really* that paranoid change your phone or at the very least a fresh OS flash and full factory reset.

I put a keylogger on my exs laptop, everytime she changed her password I had her new one. She thought I worked for MI5, she even asked me to help her to "hack" months after we split.

OP look at the simple answer instead of omgz I'm being tapped.

Maybe, but I have done a fair amount of work for one of the big mobile companies, in both their fraud and disclosure departments, and not once have I seen or heard this happening for a number of years.

If you have access to the phone then it is easier, but it is not really hacking, as such.

I'm sure your right and I'm not saying it happens often, only that its not impossible, so it should be considered.

FRS eh? I know every FRS person I have worked with tends to err on the side of "It might be a problem, lock it down", so its good to there are some out there with a more casual attitude :)

Edit - No, def not hacking, more like unauthorised app installing :)
