how capable is 270x with 4k?

lol thats for the replies guys.

as far as the tv/monitor goes, i dont have the space in the bedroom where my computer is for anything bigger than 32" and no chance a big expensive tv ever going in the living room till my kids are older, had a 52" lcd and they drew all over it lol.

as far as the card is concerned. i probably wouldnt have fitted it in the 'budget' range as these sell anything from £70-100 which for some like me isnt really budget ha, but for a x series more of a mid range performer which it does well, having said that if its only been design more for video then that just seems like a stupid feature to represent dont you think? doubt many people would buy a 270x for just video, i know i certainly wouldnt, but least i now know the truth behind that feature ;).


think the 480 be a good option for 4k for my likes.
 
Well, the 270K can do gaming, but it's far more suited to 1080p gaming, not 4K gaming, and can do so at reasonable graphic settings and FPS. Just saying upping the resolution to 4K (which has 4 times the pixels as 1080) will really stress the card out. Ideally for 4K you want the 290 or above, or even the new 480.
 
i assume the processor would have some sort of impact aswell wouldnt it? mean i would require a cpu upgrade before another gpu upgrade otherwise might seem silly

RX480 is probably the upgrade that would suit you best for power/price ratio. :)
 
As said before, a 270X theoretically can do 4k but for gaming it's like trying to compete in the World Rally Championship with a second hand car.

Upgrading to an RX480/1070 will probably be in order for you to game on it at all.
 
I have a r9 290 that is run at stock and it does ok in some games at 4k
Counterstrike, Dark Souls 2 and Elite Dangerous all run fine on it at 4k (with med-high settings).
I find 1400 the sweet spot though for the 290 - most games are ok at this res
 
I had 290 crossfire and it wasn't amazing at 4k, i would call it passable so i'd say you've got no chance

4K will be fine for the desktop, but you will be running your games at 1080p.
