How close to the red line do you normally get?

Normal day to day driving I will change at around 3,000k in 1st and 2nd and then around 2,500k in higher gears.

When giving it the beans I usually change up bang on 6,000k which is quite close to the redline but not on it.

Bimey, rpm in the millions

:p

Usually at about 3k as the exhaust note gets a bit throaty between 3-4k.

If I'm hammering it then right on the redline, that's what it's for ;)

Normal driving i tend to change gear at around 2000 RPM in my own car as the gearing is fairly long.

if i'm "giving it beans" i try to get as close to the 6200 RPM limiter as possible without hitting it to keep the revs up when i change gear.

Only ever hit the limiter twice.

I change just before it so it stays in VTEC in the next gear. I always let the car warm up by not going over 3k rpm for at least 10 mins first though.

Yeah that's the trick in mine, before the limiter but long enough for the next gear to still be in VTEC.

I rev until the power drops off in whatever I drive (if I'm driving spirited) whether that is into the redline or 1000rpm off it :)

Hardly ever get close to the redline purely becuase if I am accelerating in a fashion that means I'm hitting the redline I'll be shattering every speed limit without much effort. This is a bad thing.

Fun though :p

shattering every speed limit

Yea know what you mean.

I do find around town a bit hard though because at idle, in 5th, the engine shifting along at 30mph so if you as much as fart on the pedal you're doing 40.

Oh well, just means I have to be a bit more careful :)

I go 1 - 2 at 2,500 then 2 - 3 at around 2,500,3,000, i don't really go anywhere above 3k if i redlined in every gear id be obliterating the speed limit.

I remember getting to the red line on my GPZ 900 for the first time, it was like it went into warp drive and my head went numb, i didnt redline it much after that, plus i dont think Kawasakis had rev limiters around back then

If I'm trying to accelerate fast, I'll hit the bottom of the redline in every gear. Power lets of very quickly if I go much further into it.

When driving in town/built-up areas, I don't usually let the secondaries open, which is about 3250rpm.

When on NSL roads/motorways, I'm game for getting up to speed ASAP, and about 5000rpm is my limit, at which point torque drop-off is very noticeable.

This aside, for the first 10-15 minutes of driving, I don't rev over 2500rpm. :)

as close as i can go before it auto changes, which in sport mode is very very far into it!
