How come no xfx 280x in stock?

There seems to be a pretty common problem with that 7970 matrix platinum, and that is that the factory overclock is too high for a lot of them and it will artifact. And this isn't just from what people say online, I returned one to another retailer for a different reason (it was too big) and they told me that they have had a lot returned due to it artifacting out of the box because the factory OC is set too high.

ok this is getting confusing now. LOL. I understand what ur saying so whats ur advice for the same price just under clock it to like 1000mhz will it then negate any benefit I may get from the upgrade, I like to have good hardware but but not spend stupid amounts.

I don't know. If you could wait for it to maybe go on offer you could get the ASUS DirectCU II 280x. Like Gibbo said Asus can be bad if you need to RMA to them but they make good quality stuff generally and that card I named is the best reviewed of all of the 280x's so far. I don't know if it's worth going with a worse quality product just because of the small chance it might break and you have to rma it.

I would say though if aftersales service is really important to you should you ever need it then I wouldn't buy Asus. I never have due to the stuff I have read about them over the last few years. I have been tempted by their 280x though...

i think if i was getting a 280x then the msi game edition and gigabyte winforce would be on my short list, good cooling and pretty good prices

Im going to go with the The Asus 7970 Matrix Platinum it seems that a small underclock on the ram speed will negate the artifacts so im going to take the gamble.

Cheers every one for your input.

Arrived plugged it in played some arma 3 and all I can say is what an improvement and I spent 30£ less then I did for my 560ti 2 years ago.

Cheers every one very happy.
