whats your wireless card, your wireless/hub/access point, how far away are you sitting from your wireless access point?

Card is an Asus wireless g card, router is a Linksys wrt55ag, machine is about 2.5 - 3 metres from the router.

What speed's your internet connection?

What's it like transferring a file to the wired machine?

My old man is on Windows ME, and hasnt got a shared folder setup so i dont know off hand. I dont know how easy it is to setup a folder on ME, is there an easier way?

It's probably easier to set up a shared folder, even on Windows ME.

I just downloaded a file to put into my shared folder and i was only getting about half the kbps i was getting before i went wireless, and that was on a wired connection!!

i have a 10mb ntl line, most of the time my downloads over wifi are in the 800kbps area, but the same download of wired connection is a good 1.3-1.5mbps, it sucks being over wifi!

Well that sucks :(

I had a similar problem with wireless. It the end I changed the MTU on the wireless card to the same as on the router and it was just as fast as wired. Might be worth a look
