This backplate from the back of an Intel LGA 775 motherboard without damaging the board...it has become stuck fast and I don't want to use to much leverage in attempting to get it off.

I am getting a new mobo, so I need this backplate to fit a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme onto it...in the event that I cannot remove it, where would I get/buy one?

Thanks :)

They are available separately but I'm afraid I couldn't tell you where. If its stuck on rather than screwed on then try warming it up with a hairdryer to loosen the glue. Failing that - google is your friend.

I will give this a go first....as it just might work..

And if this doesn't work, at least I know that they can be bought separately....

Thanks :)

I've had the pleasure of this twice. First time at uni and the only thing I could use to heat up the backplate (and therefore the goo holding it to the motherboard) was a radiator. Second time at home and was unable to use a hairdryer which also worked fine. You just need to heat up the gluey material and get a big flat head screwdriver in there and twist ever so gently, being extra careful of any metal contacts on the motherboard. The first time the pad came off cleanly, the second time it didn't but it wasn't hard to get off.

NB. The second time wasn't my motherboard

Did your backplate really have glue or sticky stuff on it?? looks a lot like my U12F one, but mine never had glue on...
That picture is not of the actual mobo in question, but from the installation instructions for the Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120mm (which is actually the heatsink I have) - the backplate came with the "sticky pad" on it, but none the less it is stuck fast...but I think the suggestion of the hairdryer will probably do the trick...if not I know where I can buy another backplate, so either way it is now sorted.... :)
