Hi,

i made a post related to this in the windows topic and it ended with me realising that the HDD windows is on went corrupt.

basically it was working fine. so i turned it all off, disconnected the power, didnt touch ANYTHING to do with the HDD, and hooked up the new SSD. now every time i start windows even if only the HDD is plugged in, it BSODs as windows loads everything in the background.

how does this happen when it wasnt even touched!?

There could be a thousand reasons why some of the OS files have become corrupt. A lot of it will be guesswork. Boot into the repair option and see if that fixes things, or just wipe and reinstall.

At least make sure SATA cable is firmly attached from both ends.
You might have accidentally nudged it when working inside the case leading to transfer errors from bad contact.

all the BSODs point at hardware issues. i havent actually tried repair mode but will give it a shot.

ive tried everything with the SATAs. connection, using different cables, different ports.
its definitely on the drive.

This might be a silly question, but which port is the hdd connected to? If it's not before the SSD, is it possible you booted off the SSD and it had Windows already on it? Windows boot manager can get screwy fast with that kind of stuff.
