How did you end up where you are?

staying with my brother in his flat in Beckenham in 2002.

After he lost his job (dot.com bubble burst) we moved in to a cheap, grotty flat in Bermondsey.

Yeah around the same time I moved up to London, working in IT, just in time to run into the dot.com bubble burst I was the other side of Bromley though.

Funny thing was the original job I moved up for, which never materialised at the time partly due to the whole dot.com thing - I got a phone call out the blue with a start date like 6 years or something after I applied (by which time I'd moved away from London again) and they didn't seem to understand I'd moved on and was no longer interested in the job LOL... 6 years...

Father kicked my mother and I out of the "family" home when I was 5 and we ended up in a homeless hostel in Camden town in the late '70s. Spent time living in Clerkenwell (Cavendish Mansions) and then Russell Square (Brunswick Centre) and them my mother decided to mutually exchange that 2-bed flat on Foundling Court to a 3-bed semi in Chelmsford. Spent the next 20 years trying to get back into town; almost purchased a property in Shoreditch for 440k in the '00s but then it suddenly dawned on me "why the hell do I want to do that .."

I've ended up in a property less than a few miles from that "family" home! Strange.
