How do dual-sim adapters work?

To start with I've received my Nokia Lumia 620 in the post today and awaiting my Ovivo sim card to put in it tomorrow or Thursday hopefully.

Was thinking of getting a second sim card from Ovivo purely for data but wondering if it's possible to have two sim cards in the phone at the same time? Or does it need changing each time I want to use a different sim?

So if the phone has dual sim slots you can usually use double radio mode which is where both SIMs can work at the same time (on 2G) and one is picked for data. This is unfortunately, not what you have.

If it does not have this and you want to use an adaptor then only one SIM can be on at a time and the other lies dormant along with all it's features I'm fairly sure. If you seldom make/receive calls then this might be acceptable but otherwise I would expect the hassle level to be huge.

I don't make a lot of calls to be honest so don't mind having to switch sim cards often as long as it's an option to at least keep them both in the phone.

What kind of adapter would I be looking at then? Are they pretty generic or would I need one specific to my phone?

I'd google and try and find one that has someone else working it with a 620 to make sure anything you get does actually work. A 620 uses a tray loader iirc so it might not be possible at all, they mostly work with slide loaders.

It does indeed use a tray loader. No problem if it doesn't work as not a major issue. Just slightly easier.

Cheers for the help. :)
