do I just install it into the case, install wires ect, then I'm good to go or do I need to mess about a bit to get it too work?

I'm wandering this because I will need to get another HDD soon ( not too soon, with these prices :p ) and I wanna know how much of a hassle it will be/ how easy it will be.

just grab a sata cable (plug is an L shape) and plug it into the mother board, mount the drive in the drive bays in the case put the power plug (normally a chain of them for other HDD's and CD drives) then your good to go.

not unless you set it up, easyiest way is just big files, games, music, videos on the new drive and keep your programs and os on the main drive

Do I, for example, move the whole of my steam folder ( main cause of needing new hard drive ) onto the new drive? will it all work as usual?

edit: never mind, googled it :p

The following instructions are a simple way to move your Steam installation along with your games:
Exit the Steam client application.
Browse to the Steam installation folder for the Steam installation you would like to move (C:\Program Files\Steam by default).
Delete all of the files and folders except the SteamApps folder and Steam.exe
Cut and paste the whole Steam folder to the new location, for example: D:\Games\Steam\
Launch Steam and log into your account.
Steam will briefly update and then you will be logged into your account. For installed games, verify your game cache files and you will be ready to play. All future game content will be downloaded to the new folder (D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\ in this example)

hope this helps

no worrys mate, haha tell me about it bought my f3 for 35£ year ago now there going for a 100£ just wait it out imo

Did this myself recently, its so great to have space when moving steam games across :D had 120GB of games to move though... Took an overnight stint!

You need to format a new disk after you've installed it.

Right click on My Computer, select manage, click on Disk Management then right click on the shaded unallocated drive space to format and assign a drive letter.

Or access through Control Panel/Admin Tools/Computer Management/Disk Management.
