Hi

So I put a deposit down on a used car earlier this week at a trader. When I viewed the car it had nice new matts all round.

Just read a review of the trader on google and someone warned that the matts were removed when they picked up the car..

I'm picking this car up later today. If the matts have been removed how do I approach that ?

Obviuosly I want them as they were part of the car that I agreed a price on. If they won't include the matts am I within my rights to ask for £50 off the price agreed ?

Thanks

A thorough check of everything before you drive away, as once you leave the lot they can say they everything went with the car. You placed the deposit based on the car having mats, so you are perfectly entitled to a discount or a refund if they take the mats away.

Well I didn't need to worry.. mats were all present and correct when I arrived and everything else was fine so drove away happy...

Is this trend of mats being removed most peoples experience? I'd have thought most people keep mats with the car given all the good ones are made to the make/model. Unless of course the mat is some generic fit in which case you'd probably be better off buying something designed to fit the specific car?

Toyota dealer tried to charge me £50-60 for car mats as an optional extra when I went to buy my car on the printed quote sheet... mats were included with every specification on that model. In my experience if it's not bolted to the car they'll try and charge you for it.

When we test drove our Zafira there were mats present. When we collected it, they had been removed. Questioned it and apparently it was 'standard policy' to remove them in case poor condition made them look tatty.

In our case they were pretty immaculate but the dealer 'couldn't find them'. I ended up pursuing a complaint due to terrible customer service and got a brand new set for free.
