How do I cable my sub?

Since that is a stereo amp you want to dial the Sub crossover clockwise -40-60hz
LFE is if you have a AVR, which you don't.

Out of interest is there a room EQ app that is any good? Presumably there are basic ones that will give a frequency response curve.

Yeah it's dialled in now at @50Hz. When it was all the way around to LFE that was just to allow the sub to playback all freq range (LFE as you say didn't do anything). The REL break-in procedure says to open it up if you want past the 12 o'clock position. I could have just left it at 100Hz (12 o'clock) whilst running it in. But it is now set correctly and sounds really good compared to the old muddy 309i.
