How do I clean my engine?

You're all stupid

How to clean your engine bay.

You will need:
- 10 litres of petrol
- a bucket, large enough to hold the petrol
- a jetwash
- a car, preferably with an engine for optimal results

1. Take the bucket, and fill it with petrol.
2. Take a 2 metre length of rubber tubing, and run it from the bucket to the inlet of the jetwash.
3. Clean as normal, and watch your engine bay shine!

You get the cleaning properties of petrol, combined with the power of a jetwash.

Asked a silly question have I?

Not at all. So far we have bang and your face is gone. Petrol in a bucket fed to powerwasher and a match. Bang, your car and half the neighbourbood is gone along with any grime.

Seriously, if you're just looking to smarten it up a bit, go for a copious workover with gunk and a stiff brush, then carefully jetwash away. Finish with a spray of WD and a rag wipe over (remembering to re-grease joints, throttle linkages etc).

You could do it the way I did recently.

1) Remove engine
2) Clean engine bay with Jizer and jetwash
3) Leave to dry overnight
4) Paint engine bay black so you don't have to clean it again
5) Install new(ish) much cleaner engine
