How do i close apps for good when finished?

I' a new android user running Froyo. Just wondering after loading an app say facebook for example, when i've finished using the app how do i close it?

Got about a 20 apps running because i can't find the close button only a back button instead.

with most of them you dont close them, if they can be closed fully there will be an option when you press the menu button.

Its best not to fully close apps anyway.

It uses a lot more battery and power to open a closed app compared to 'resuming' one.

I know they don't use any resources so to speak but i don't need them other than once in a blue moon.

I will only check email from my phone once a quarter. Only use facebook or web if travelling.

I understand that they are harmless they just bug me that's all.

I've read up on task killer so will stop using that now.

If you really want to close apps, try using Advanced Task Killer. I used to use it a lot, but I no longer really need to close apps unless they are misbehaving.
