hey guys,

I'm streaming films from my pc to my samsung BR player but it's a bit hit and miss on what plays and what doesn't.

Below is the information from mkvinfo on both a working file and a non working file.

I'm after some kind person to tell me what i need to do to remux / convert the non working film so its the same as the working film.

Then I'll be able to watch all my media!!

It worth noting that both films play fine on my laptop.

What DNLA server are you using. When I was playing around with these a while ago I tested pretty much every single one out there. I found Mezzmo to be by far the easiest to get up and running and the most sucess at actually playing various media types. GIve it a go. It has a 14 day trial.

Failing that there are loads of programs that will convert it but it will take a while and with mixed results (DVD fab, Handbrake etc etc). Give Mezzmo a go first mate.

tbh, I have allready tried Mezzmo but found that iy didn't play any more files than the samsung pc share manager so i've gone back to that.

Can you tell me the differences between my two files please??

Sorry, no idea on the file differences. mkv is just a container so that actual media file could be any codec at all, same with the sound file. I had very simular issue to what you are having when trying to use my LG blu ray player to stream media. I had the most sucess with Mezmo but I still ended up admitted defeat and buying a dedicated device (Boxee Box).

Prob not the answer your looking im affriad. One thing I do know is that you will soon get sick of have to spend hours trying to re encode a film only to find the quality is effected because of one of the 10,000 settings isnt quite right.
 
Blastman could you d/load a free program called MediaInfo and post the information between the two files.

Actually scrub that mate I just found in the list the info I was looking for and both files are the same :(

so both files have been created with the sma e codac for both audio and video?

odd, why would one work and not the other??

What I was looking for was the (h.264 profile: High @L4.1) I've had a file that was L5.1 and it just would not play until converted to 4.1 but both your files are the same.

lets say that is the issue, how do i go about coverting it to just DTS or AC3?

just point me in the direction of a application would be fansatic :)

Well I use MediaInfo (small free program) to check on audio info then if DTS I use either VID2EVA or MKV2AC3 to convert it. This as you say mate may or may not be your problem but its worth a shot.

MKV2AC3 is purely audio conversion and works very well. (all progs listed are free)

cool, im now running popcorn hour mkv audio convertor whihc is converting the A_DTS track to AC3.

I'll let you know how i get on.

it was the A_DTS codec my BR player didnt like.

thanks for all your help. I'm usre there are other things wrong with other files, but I'll post them as and wehn i find them.
