On the road....
I'm not kidding! :D

I've recently re-installed windows onto one of my 2 drives after the initial install borked, I did not want to re-format & wipe lots of Films, Music & Photo's so I simply installed onto the other drive having disconnected the drive with the previous install on it.

Now, my PC boots to the new install and bar constant STOP 0X00000EA errors - see this thread - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17971015 it seems to be happy.

Now, I want to zap the old install of Windows on my other drive but XP won't allow me to delete is as its a System file. Fair enough except its not the system that I am now using hence me wanting to remove it.

I conceed that I am probably being extremely thick and have missed something obvious! - any pointers greatly appreciated.

Thanks. :)

1. Unplug the drive with the current install ( precaution ).
2. Boot the Windows CD / DVD.
3. Format it.

Don't have a Windows CD? ---> Boot up Gparted LiveCD, format.

He doesn't want to format the drive.

What I usually do if a file/folder is being stubborn is use a Live CD like Slax (highly recommend it) and locate the directory or file and delete from the Live CD.

If you're worried about deleting the wrong directory, either:

a) Unplug the drive
b) Put a text file on the root of the drive you want to delete the folder from

Cheers chaps - I sorted it eventually by stumbling across a program called "Unlocker" which did what it said on the tin. :)

Just got to get the PC working properly now..... :o
