How do I get rid of 'horizontal shearing'?

Hi again. I hate to repeat my request so soon but this new problem is driving me insane. Has anyone got suggestions how to fix it? I've tried making everything as it was and even setting my media player to v sync on but basically everything on my plasma is now screen tearing, even youtube videos. Everything looks fine on my monitor. I want to emphasize that video on both my plasma and monitor was absolutely perfect before I started messing with the Nvidia control panel.

That was the most helpful explanation of V-Sync I have seen so far, thanks Duff-Man. I get very noticable horizontal screen tear in most games with my 470 and turning on V-Sync helps reduce it but not negate it totally. The worst game for this is Black Ops and nothing I have tried will get rid of it. It effects the top 3rd of the screen and is almost like that part of the image is drawing slightly later than the rest.

I feel like I'm just talking to myself now but if anyone is actually interested, I kind of figured it out. I'd switched the primary and secondary display settings. I've no idea why the secondary display gets such a shoddy deal but that's how it is. I've found evidence of this happening for other people but I haven't found a good reason for it. I've set it so my plasma is now the primary when both are on but when I switch it off, the monitor becomes the primary which solves my problem but not my curiosity.

Interesting... Thanks for posting the solution, will be worth bearing in mind for the future.

I never replied to your problem because I had no idea what the solution could be (never come across anything similar myself), and I guess the same will apply for others. Glad you got it sorted anyway.

Thanks. Someone said it might be that the gfx card only syncs with the primary display and then uses the same settings for the secondary. You'd think it'd be able to display properly on both at the same time.

Thanks for all the extra information about vertical sync too. :D
