How do I get that "wow factor image" on my LG OLED? Do I need 4K UHD discs?

You should support those rental sites Amazon gobbled up Lovefilm just to get them out of the way for thier inferior streams. They gave the discs to charity they said. Just think some poor child somewhere watching Saw.

When i look into a 4k OLED though i will sign up to cinemaparadiso. Buy the trilogy collections and rent everything else pre 2019.

Just be aware that not all 4k discs are created equally. A lot are upscaled from a 2k DI and it's only HDR and wider colour gamut that sets them apart from a 1080p Blu-ray.

I'm not say all 2k DI transfers are bad. But it's always worth reading reviews on 4k discs before paying the £10-15 premium over the standard Blu-ray.

Google real or fake 4k most of the new films are 2k DI shamefully this includes all the Harry Potters only one and two are real 4k. I buy the real 4k like X Men on Amazon for £15 and £20 Predator Trilogy is decent. All the good films seem to mostly get good 4k scans.

These scans will probably be here a while too because unless they do an 8k scan and downsample like Lawrence of Arabia they will probably in future re-release the same 4k scans but upscaled to 8k. I think this adds value to discs because 6-8k is the limit for 35mm films. It will only be the few with 70mm scenes getting real 8k. Batman and some Mission Impossible scenes spring to mind there certainly the minority.

So, if I watch the demo Dolby Vision clips on my LG 55"E7, it's stunning. And indeed, some of the 4K demos on YouTube are great as well. But I've never seen a film for example in that level of "wow"...

Am I looking at 4K UHD player realms to get that sort of quality in films?

Where do you get the DV clips from?
