here we go...
hardware i have:
RJ45 patch leads
1 4 port 10/100 router
2 computers:
comp1 - 10/100 and 1 10/1000
comp2 - 2 10/1000
what im wanting to do is have them both sharing the internet directly from the router
comp 1 is going to be my server which holds music and other files
comp2 will be my main computer for gaming etc. if i connect them both to the router the transfers rates will be slow.
is there anyway that i am able to use a crossover cable to connect the 2 computers directly together using the gb ethernet ports and set it up so that it will only use the gb for transfering information to and from and not via the router
red - 10/100
blue - gb
you get the idea
