How do I know which memory I have

How can I find out which DDR and the speed etc of my memory?

If my memory is 2 years old, is it better to buy a new 2GB kit, or could I buy 1GB to add to my current 1GB so long as it is the same speed?

You are better of with a 2x 1gb kit but they also cost more especially if its ddr1
