How do I open French patio doors? (with the keys!)

Moved into new place, cannot figure out how to open the back door

Rotating the key anti-clockwise within each door, you can feel the door unlocking

But then only the left door handle goes down fully

The right door handle doesn't go down at all, despite the unlocking above

Fairly sure I need to do this in a specific order, feels like another lock is still engaged. There is nothing at the top or bottom of the door

Any ideas?

No, I can't get outside

I’d try taking off the covers and check the shaft hasn’t snapped on the right door, if it has borrow the shaft from the other door.

Can you not get through a window or climb over a fence to try from outside?

How about lifting the handle up while you rotate the key?

^yep, with ours, what you need to do is:

1) insert key
2) RAISE doorhandle (and keep it held up)
3) Turn key towards the side of the door you are opening (clockwise in our case with lock on the right door)
4) Push doorhandle down
5) Push door outwards to open
