Anyone know how to open . MAP files? It contains gps co ordinates. I have a program called datakam which reads the file but it displays the co ordinates in the middle of the sea.
I want to check whether the .map file is in error or the datakam software is in error. Unfortunately the .map file is unreadable in notepad. Converting the file to a csv file allows me to see co ordinates but this appears in the sea still when putting it into google maps. This could still be the datakam software reading the information incorrectly.

Surely, if you copied the GPS cords into Google from the csv, and it put you out to sea... then all is a wash with the datakam software ?

I don't have access to the GPS co ordinates from the source file (.map file) which is generated by the camera. Opening up the .map file does not have any legible text to copy paste.
The program (datakam) does not come with the camera, it's something I had to use as the really poor chinese software just won't work on win 8 or win 7.
I used datakam to export the gps data to a csv file. So basically if datakam is reading the data incorrectly from the .map file it will export it incorrectly to the .csv file.

If I could open the .map file directly without datakam and extract the gps co ordinates then I could confirm whether datakam is reading it incorrectly or whether my camera is recording the wrong gps co ordinates. :)

I hope that makes more sense!
