Hi,

I'm trying to overclock a system based around an E4300 and a DS3 with a Tunic Tower for cooling. I've installed windows etc and got everything setup the way I want it, but when I go into the BIOS and start tweaking with the FSB etc the system just won't post.

Baring in mind that the system wouldn't POST at 220FSB, what might I be doing wrong? Or don't we clock via the BIOS any more?

Please help... :)

Thanks both. :)

I now have a new issue. I tried to jump straight in at 3.2Ghz @ 1.4v, this just made the system restart. @ 1.45v Orthos produced errors, so I gave 3Ghz a go at 1.4v. This was running well for a few minutes until I started to think that maybe 90 oC under load wasn't such a good idea after all. :(

I've gone back to completely stock and running Orthos now, which TAT is still reporting at 70 oC... What am I doing wrong?

Do CoreTemp and the latest Speedfan report the same temp?

And are you sure your memory settings are correct for the overclock?

yea check those temps with the latest CoreTemp as it doesnt sound right. Im running a tuniq and a 6400 @ 3.4ghz 1.5v and it breaks 60C under full load. Maybe reseat the heatsink if all else fails?

On you topic title it says E4300 and on here you say 6400 which is it?

I'll have a look around and try and find them.

For reference, I thought I'd try running TAT on my system (this is one I'm building for a mate) which is based around an E4300 in a MATX case with stock cooler and an Asrock Conroe945DVI mobo, and TAT reliably informs me that Core 0 is running at either -27oC or 100oC, while Core 1 is running at 98oC.

Saying that though, it looks like there's something wrong with my system as well as a 1M SuperPI took 49 seconds to complete.

*sigh*

Cheers...

I certainly seem to have a problem... On both PC's it would seem.

Code:
Mate's System - Stock

Load
	    Core 0	Core 1	T Junction
TAT 67	63
Core Temp	67	63	100
SpeedFan	52	50

Idle
	    Core 0	Core 1	T Junction
TAT 50	44
Core Temp	48	43	100
SpeedFan	33	28

Code:
My System - Stock

Load
	     Core 0	Core 1	T Junction
TAT >100	>100
Core Temp	124	124	100
SpeedFan	-39	-39

Idle
	     Core 0	Core 1	T Junction
TAT 100	98
Core Temp100	98	100
SpeedFan	85	83
