How do i rename 100's of files.

Don't know if this is the forum but here goes :)

I've downloaded 100's of images from usenet but unfortunately the filenames came out looking like this

1.jpg
2.jpg
3.jpg
Copy(1) of 1.jpg
Copy(1) of 2.jpg
Copy(1) of 3.jpg
and so on.....

what i would like to do is move the "1.jpg" etc. into a folder and rename "Copy(1) of 1.jpg" etc. to "1.jpg" etc. and move those into a folder and repeat the process until there all sorted out.

Is there anyway of doing this other than renaming each file individually (would take days) i.e. a program that will batch delete "Copy(1) of " out of the filename.

if you highlight them all hold shift and rename in explorer, it'll rename them all to whatever you call them but with (#) on the end.

So if you've got a load of pictures of cars and a load of pictures of sheep, you could highlight all the car pictures and rename them as car(1),car(2) etc. like this.

I know about that way but to be honest ReNamer is perfect for my needs and i need to keep the original file name :)
 
How does renamer work?

I put a file in called sf01.jpg and sf02.jpg and it it renamed them the same?
