How do I reset my sleep patterns?

Just go to bed at your normal time and force yourself to get up at 7-8 after afew days you'll find yourself going to bed earlier.

nah they are cool.

what I said is you should ma up and drink loads of red bull and stay up like a man.

Drugs are bad hmmkay and I dont acknowledge them on a kind family orientated forum one bit.

i've jusrt finished working nights, got home at 08:00 Monday morning,

stayed up all day, went to bed about 18:00 then accidently slept until 13:00 the next day, couldn't sleep that night, stayed up untill 13:00 the next day (now wednesday)

slept until 19:00 watched tv until 23:00 gave up on normal methods so took some nitol, slept untill now and got up.

now i'm reset back to a 05:00 wake up but it took some doing.

if you've managed to understand all that as i'm not sure i understand what i've written myself, here's my advice.

make plans for the following day that mean you have to get up at a reasonable time. and make tham plans you can't break. you'll be tired but at least awake during the time of the living!

Delayed sleep phase syndrome

Wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delayed_sleep_phase_syndrome

Using Light therapy in the mornings worked for me.

I was exactly like this when i was younger, through the summer holidays and when i finished my education i had a break of about 2 months why i was looking for a job,

In this time i was awake until 5-6am everyday and slept in until 1-2pm, I tried staying up all night to reset my body clock but just stayed up till the early morning again, the doctor even gave me sleeping pills that didn't work.

When i got a job that i had to be up at 7am for and I was getting up off my ass and actually using up all the energy that was keeping me awake all night it wasn't long before my body caught up to my new sleeping patterns.

Basically if you are using energy you will get tired, if you keep forcing yourself to get up at 7am you will start to sleep at reasonable times too.
